Our logo, designed by one of our members, Naomi Thorpe, is a visual representation of lipoedema. Each element of the logo holds deep significance, carefully selected to reflect the unique characteristics of lipoedema.
The orangish-yellow hue in the illustration represents fat, particularly in the upper part of the body, as it's often deeply embedded "under our skin" unlike regular fat. The colours chosen directly from actual surgery images.
The blue dots on the wider parts of the body symbolise the fact that lymphedema doesn't typically affect just one leg or arm. Instead, it often manifests as lipolymphedema in both legs and/or arms, frequently involving the entire limb and becoming widespread due to significant delays in diagnosis, treatment, and lymphatic system impact.
However, the dots are also dispersed to highlight the varying presentations of lipolymphedema among individuals. Additionally, it emphasises that our lymphatic systems are negatively affected by standing without compression, heat, and other factors.
The purple background was chosen because many of us have comorbidities associated with purple ribbons, and there was an interest in using purple at the time.
